Dubbing & Voice-Over Services
What is dubbing?
Although dubbing is not as common in English-speaking countries, it is still used to translate children's TV programmes. The original audio dialogue is removed completely and replaced with audio dialogue in the desired language. Dubbing is more common in Spanish-speaking countries. Here in Colombia, you often have the choice to watch a film in the Spanish dubbed version or the original version with Spanish subtitles.
What is Voice-Over?
This is where the original audio dialogue can be heard slightly in the background and the new translated audio dialogue is placed on top of the original, so you can hear both. This is less common in English and Spanish-speaking countries, but you often hear it on the news when a person is being interviewed and responds in a foreign language. You can hear the original audio in the background and the translated audio is placed on top.
Dubbing is a type of audiovisual translation whereby the original audio of a video is replaced by audio in another desired language. This is the most common alternative to subtitles. We provide a translated script of your film, TV or video which can then be used to re-record the audio in the desired language.
Translation England does not offer recording facilities or voice actors, but we can translate your script for dubbing or voice-over and we can recommend a company that can record your translated script for you.
Dubbing and voice-over translation is quoted per minute of video file. The price depends on the subject matter, audio quality and whether or not you provide the original script. (It's cheaper if you do!)
We can also provide a written transcript of the original audio if you do not have one.
