Translation England's Jonathan Hemming recently celebrated a milestone in his translation career. He provided the English translation for Fernando Bello Mendoza's beautiful photography book Villa de Leyva - A Plena Luz. This book was published in Colombia in December, 2014. It was published multilingually in Spanish, English, French and German.
"I've long dreamed of this day, to have in my hand a book that I helped to translate. A very proud day. I think I dreamed of this day since I first set foot in this continent 16 years ago and I am extremely proud of the opportunity to help share the beauty of the place I now call home.
I say "help" because this book was published multilingually in four languages: Spanish, English, French and German, so I can't take all the credit but I am still proud of my contribution nonetheless."
Villa de Leyva is considerd to be one of the most beautiful villages in Colombia. It maintains the traditional colonial style and boasts one of the largest squares in South America.
Fernando Bello Mendoza is a photographer from Tunja, Colombia and has provided photos for books on travel, flora and fauna in Colombia. He has also published a book of photographs of his hometown Tunja, which is also published multilinugally in Spanish, English and French.
